Seriously, you’d think out of the 933 themes in the themes directory at the time of this writing, one could at least find enough decent themes to not just count them on one’s hands. It seems, though, that almost every single one of them has found some unique (or not so unique) way to screw things up just enough to make it look terrible. Whether it be overlapping elements, poor color choice, or trying to cram too much into too little, nearly every theme out there just doesn’t work out in the end.
Unfortunately, this seems to mostly result in people clustering around the few themes that don’t suck, and thus we wind up with 1000′s of look-alike blogs. Joy.

Simpler the better. Blogs aren’t meant to be fancy anyway.
It’s funny how many ways even simple things can go wrong, though – slight quirks that just make what would normally be a basic element look out of place.
This is where friends with “ub3r skillz” come in to play. Just have someone make you a custom theme.
